Please check whether you have selected the appropriate country flag of the game at the top of this page (not where you are at the moment). The game content varies from country to country. I.e. if you are playing the US version of the game in Canada, you need to choose the US flag. If you are playing the UK version in the Netherlans, you need to choose the UK flag.
INSTRUCTIONS
The aim of the game is to prove successful police work together as a team. You have to go through documents, draw clever conclusions and think outside the box.
THE FOLLOWING MISSIONS ARE WAITING FOR YOU:
Solve the case of the murder at the Haven Falls country fair.
How did Max Glover die?
Who sent you the investigation file?
Who sent the torn letter, and to whom?
Who is the killer?
BEFORE YOU START:
Carefully study all documents!
Hang up the poster
Take notes!
Make sure that everyone has read every document!
When you are finished, enter your solution here and listen to the finale
For deaf players you can find additional information here.
If you are not in the United States and don’t want to spend money on phone calls, you can call the phone numbers in the game for free online. Click here:https://call.tele-comi.com
HINTS
In certain parts of the game, you can ask for an hint if you get stuck. We decided against giving you tips throughout the game as this would have made it too easy...
If you're stuck, you should have a look at some of the materials whose significance you have so far not quite understood and select one of the following search terms.
WATCH OUT - SPOILER ALARM: Only enter the search terms if you really can't continue the game without an hint - it's only half as much fun with tips.
START THE GAME
Dear private detective,
Did you read everything on the back carefully? Then you are ready to get started.
We hope you have fun, and wish you good luck in your investigation!
P.S.
Need a tip to get started? Then check out the additional hints.
START
To start the game, divide all of the documents among the players. Everyone should read through their documents silently, then share all of the information with the other players (or read it aloud, for instance).
THE POLICE REPORT
You should all look through the police report together, since it will give you some basic information on the case.
THE DETECTIVE POSTER
Hang up the poster and take notes on the different individuals.
AND NOW?
While you are gathering information from all of the players, several of the town's residents are going to start looking very suspicious. Write down any motives these people might have. Do they have alibis? Can you rule out any suspects? The more information you collect, the more people you will be able to rule out – until you finally understand the whole story and can unmask the killer.
A TIP
During the course of the game, it will help you out to exchange documents among yourselves and read as many notes as you can. In addition, you should put documents together if you think they belong together.
MAILBOX NOT AVAILABLE
If the mailbox is not available, you can also listen to the mailbox here:
POLICE REPORT
Make sure you have all read the report together. It provides basic information on the case. Max Glover is the victim, and it's your job to find his murderer.
It would be a good idea to note the date and time on the calendar, to keep an overview of what happened.
CREDIT CARD BILL
Examine the bill carefully, then take a very close look at the detective poster.
What do you notice?
The following information is important for you, and it is included on the credit card receipt:
1. Date
2. Who paid at the gas station?
3. Gas station location
What information do the three bullet points give you? What does that tell you?
CHESS TOURNAMENT
Mary Pierce's tip is important. What do the times of the rounds tell you?
Can you use the nicknames to determine who was playing at the time the crime was committed?
Does the player's signature look familiar to you?
Take a look at Max Glover's allergy test. Do you recognize the signatures there?
ARREST WARRANT
When was the arrest warrant issued? And what event is it connected to?
Who submitted the application for the arrest warrant? What was that person's relationship with Thomas?
The application for the arrest warrant was denied, so Max was never arrested. That probably would have made the person who applied for it very unhappy.
Was that a motive to murder Max?
NEWSPAPER
Read the newspaper carefully. The articles and more could be important for your investigation.
Look at the following articles one more time, and read the following tips on each article: OBITUARY FOR ROSALINE, CHANGE IN MANAGEMENT, JANITORIAL COMPANY LAUNCHED
OBITUARY FOR ROSALINE
Rosaline Donnelly has died. She leaves behind her husband. And a life insurance policy with Care4Life. Does that ring any bells?
CHANGE IN MANAGEMENT
Max Glover works for the Care4Life insurance company. Apparently, he got a surprise promotion. His colleague Ian Brown didn't like that at all - after all, the position was promised to him. A motive, perhaps?
JANITORIAL COMPANY LAUNCHED
Phillip Anderson owns the janitorial company. Apparently he was running a one-man operation. He didn't have any employees, and it seems like he cleaned a variety of addresses throughout Haven Falls. Have you taken a look at his schedule?
TOWN MAP
The distance between New Haven and Great Falls is important.
Some places, like the gas station you have a credit card receipt from, are located in Great Falls. The map is also important for the fine notice.
The police have a speed trap set up between New Haven and Great Falls. Anyone who got a speeding ticket was driving in this direction, and not trying to get away from the crime scene.
WHATSAPP CHATS
Of 02/14/19
- Did you already figure out who the numbers belong to?
- And what’s up with the strange spelling error?
- Facebook is probably also useful for your case.
Of 04/11/2019
- Do you know who both of the numbers belong to?
- What did someone find during their spring cleaning? Tip: it was in a drawer and inside of an envelope.
Of 04/22/2019
- A weird exchange. It seems like the person couldn’t reach the number ending in “38” right away. Maybe there’s a message in the voice mailbox?
DOCTORS OFFICE MAILS
Apparently, the results of Max Glover’s allergy test have disappeared without a trace. Very odd... Thank goodness he could access them digitally as well.
Did you figure out the password?
And what about the timing of the correspondence?
Certainly you’ve seen where the allergy test is located. If not, check out the letter about the changed access details to the police server one more time (https://new-haven-police.com).
If you haven’t figured out the password for the password-protected doctor’s document yet, and need help, check out the “Cat riddle” tip.
POLICE SERVER LETTER
The login data for the police server seems to have been changed. What do you think, should you see whether you really can log into the police server?
The access details for Jason Mahoney are on the letter from the police that is in your documents.
The password is his badge number, B294353.
HUNTING PHOTO
The two hunters seem like very good friends. Don’t they?
Can you figure out who is in the photo? Examine the photos carefully and take a look at the big poster.
WIPE AWAY MONTHLY SCHEDULE
Have you figured out who owns the janitorial company?
A close look at the newspaper could help.
Where do they clean, and on which days?
FINE NOTICE
Can you figure out whose car got the speeding ticket?
The most important information on the fine notice are the direction of travel, the date and the time.
What can you deduce from this information?
The date and time the driver got the ticket are also important.
BUILDING PERMIT OFFICE LETTER
Robert Walker seems like the town pastor. His request to expand the wing of the church was approved.
Look at the “STOP THE EXPANSION OF THE CHURCH WING” flyer one more time.
CAT RIDDLE
You’ll need to employ your mathematical skills. Multiplication and addition are your best friends.
So, 7 children with 7 backpacks each is how many backpacks?
There are 7 cats in each backpack: how many cats are there total?
Each cat has seven kittens. The number of cats times the seven kittens.
How many cats and kittens are there? Remember, each animal has 4 legs.
Did you remember to count the children's legs too?
7 children with 7 backpacks each = 49 backpacks.
There are 7 cats in each backpack: 49x7 = 343 cats.
Each cat has seven kittens: 343x7 = 2401.
343 cats + 2401 kittens = 2744 animals.
Each animal has 4 legs.
2744 x 4 = 10976 legs.
7 children have 2 legs each = 14
10976 cat legs + 14 children's legs totals 10990 legs, which is the 5-digit password for the allergy test.
Password for allergy test
You will receive the password for the allergy test once you have solved the cat puzzle (yellow sticky note).
TORN LETTER
Did you put the letter back together? Drat, still can’t read who sent it.
The sender seems to have been the father of someone whose identity is still unknown.
The content of the letter is especially important for you.
Why is the father not happy about the recipient's relationship?
And what about the possibility of children?
LETTER TO MY FATHER
It seems that this letter was never sent. It is probably an answer to the torn letter. The son or daughter of the father is responding to him. Who do you think the author was?
It seems like the spell checker was activated. Do you notice anything?
“Speechless” was spelled incorrectly.
ATTORNEY'S OFFICE LETTER
What letter could the attorney's firm letter belong to?
Could this indicate a motive to murder Max Glover?
The attorney's office probably made sure that Mr. Donnelly got the life insurance payout for his wife.
What does that mean for his motive?
TELECOMI LETTER
Have you already followed the police stamp?
Listen carefully and write down keywords. You could certainly listen to it a second time.
You can also listen to the mailbox under the “Mailbox not available” tip.
PIZZERIA BUSINESS CARD
Does the pizzeria's website work?
What occurred on the night of the crime, and at what time?
Do you notice anything about one of the guests?
Where is the pizzeria located? What can you conclude from this?
www.great-falls-pasta.com
What happened on the evening of the crime, and at what time?
Do any of the guests catch your eye?
Where is the pizzeria located?
What can you conclude from this?
CARE4LIFE LETTER
You are probably familiar with the sender, who signed the letter.
Richard Donnelly was not paid for his wife’s life insurance. Is this a motive?
ULTRASOUND IMAGE
Sandra Bridge's ultrasound image shows you that she is pregnant. Have you compared the fingerprints? And why do you think the image was in the diary?
Have you figured out whose fingerprints these are?
Who already knows about the pregnancy?
And who do you think got Sandra pregnant?
FACEBOOK
Look at the WhatsApp chat carefully once again.
Have you figured out who the Facebook account belongs to? It might make sense to search for this person on Facebook.
If you don’t have a Facebook account, check the additional tips.
The Facebook account belongs to Carrie Butcher. But what is her middle name?
A little tip: her middle name starts with M.
If you don’t use Facebook, check out the next tip.
For anyone who does not have a Facebook account and cannot view Carrie M. Butcher’s account:
ENVELOPE
Where was the envelope found?
And did you figure out who has seen the envelope already?
Unfortunately, Thomas Butcher died in the fire. Have you identified any suspects who might have been indirectly responsible for Thomas’s death?
Could this be a motive?
CHURCH FLYER
A flyer distributed in New Haven. The flyer is calling people to stop the expansion of the church wing. What do you notice?
Who could have something against the anti-church movement? Could this be cause for a motive?
PHOTO WITH LOVE NOTE
A letter found in the victim's home. It seems Max had a lover.
FINGERPRINTS
These fingerprints were taken during the investigation. Can you find fingerprints on some of the documents and figure out whose they are?
There are also fingerprints on the envelope. Who do they belong to?
HOSPITAL DISCHARGE REPORT
Carrie Butcher seems to have had a car accident, and spent some time in the hospital.
She probably has a cast and is temporarily confined to a wheelchair. Can you find her on the big poster?
The time she was in the hospital is important.
